Jolby and Friends Two Plus Four Plus Four

Portland-based art duo Jolby is the side project of designers Josh Kenyon and Colby Nichols. The two met and started collaborating while attending art school in San Diego. Their friendship transcended their academic studies to become a strong, symbiotic working relationship that would continue into their professional careers.
As an illustration duo the two have split their respective roles by strengths with Colby doing the drawings and Josh providing the color, texture and pattern work. It appears to be a perfect balance with compositions that are both whimsically engaging and elusively complex. Jolby’s work is infused with creativity and originality-two consistent traits that they’ve incorporated into an impressive body of work for both clients and personal projects.
The duos recent work has been primarily concentrated into a series of gallery shows focusing on their original story lines and thematic concepts. Each show culls together not only their original pieces, but also integrates additional artist works tied closely into the show’s themes-representing the duos strong commitment to collaboration with other creators. Each show is explosively creative which highlights the talent packed into these two talented minds (and four arms and four legs).
