Austria-based design firm Sensomatic makes good on the concept of minimalist design. Taking a card from the wonderful Swiss style, this small firm’s work employs heavy typographic and image based layouts that work along a strong grid system-creating compelling visual play. Sensomatic’s portfolio has dozens of projects to mull over-each with endearing qualities that make this small studio an instant favorite of ours.

Illustrated Letter S

Illustrated Letter M

Illustrated Letter X

I just came across this wonderful set of illustrations by Scott Templin. All 26 letters of the alphabet are illustrated as houses, and the detail of each one is wonderfully amazing. The look of each letter (as well as Scott’s site for that matter) remind me of a mix between Richard Scary and Mercer Mayer-two childhood illustration favorites. Scott recently released a book of his illustrative typography, which is heading onto our wish list for our personal library.
